The ancient forge

Michel Conrad (1862-1886), Jean-Georges Klein (1862-1925) and then his son Wendel (1900-1984) were successively blacksmiths in the commune and owners of this establishment rebuilt after the Second World War.

From 1966 it was the headquarters and workshop of the heating and sanitation company Klein Frères and then Klein Fils from 1993 to 2014. The house adjoining the forge was occupied until 2011. The commune bought the whole of the buildings located just opposite the current Mairie from the Klein family in 2012.

The location was chosen to build a new cultural hall to replace the old cultural centre on the church square, which had become too old, closed in 2006 and demolished in 2015. The project was launched in 2014 and the old forge demolished in 2015.

In 2017 the new hall was inaugurated after more than a year of work. Located in the place of the old forge, adjacent to the transformed blacksmith's house, it was named " La Forge ". To recall the site's past, the architecture of the three roofs was reworked. Some of the machines still present have been preserved. The adjoining house is still commonly called " Maison Klein ".
